A Warm Welcome From The Executive Headteacher

Welcome to Payhembury Church of England Primary School and Pre-School. I am delighted and proud to be the Executive Headteacher of such a forward-thinking and happy school, where the school community shares the highest expectation and aspiration for everyone, working hard together towards securing the best outcomes for every single child. Our ambition is to provide excellence for all in teaching and learning and to open doors to a bright future.

At Payhembury Primary School we offer a curriculum that is ambitious and designed to give all pupils the knowledge they need to succeed in life. We offer a curriculum of opportunity and challenge, where there are no limits to learning.

Payhembury Primary School is situated close to the town of Honiton in East Devon. We are proud to be part of the FORT federation; with our other school only a few miles away called Awliscombe Church of England Primary School.

We actively work collaboratively with other schools in the primary and secondary phase. We are based in a small, dynamic community and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Our learning environments are engaging and play a key part in stimulating children’s interests and moving learning forward. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, outdoor learning is an integral requirement of the curriculum; our children enjoy an extensive outdoor setting in which to learn and play together.

We aspire to develop children into young, confident leaders who understand that their voice is important and should be listened to in a respectful environment is essential.

At Payhembury Primary School we have a passionate and active School Council and Eco Council Committees. As a school community we wrote our mission statement

‘Living, loving and learning forever; becoming the best as we journey together’

This sentiment underpins all we do at Payhembury Primary School and it reflects the attitude that permeates the school. The school ethos is for everyone to learn and strive to be the best they can be.

Our School Core values are explicit and are the foundation to all that we stand for…PARCH
P – Perseverance
A – Acceptance
R – Respect
C – Care
H – Honesty

We are fortunate enough to receive tremendous support from our parents and carers. The home school partnership is one of exceptional importance to us, as we firmly believe that this is the key to ensuring successful learning.

Upon arrival at the school, you will immediately notice the excellent learning behaviour of our pupils and the passion, enthusiasm, and friendliness of our staff. We believe that your child’s learning journey is lifelong, and we feel privileged that Payhembury Primary School and Pre School is where this very important journey begins.

We want our children to sparkle, not just academically but in all areas of their lives. We want them to have courage, resilience, passion, enthusiasm to name only a few qualities. Using their PARCH values to guide them in decision making, using wisdom and hope.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

You are always welcome to come and see the school in action. Please contact the school office 01404 841291 to make a suitable appointment.

I look forward to meeting you very soon.

Best Wishes,
Mrs Penny Hammett
Executive Headteacher
