PE and Sports Premium
The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. The government allocates money to our school which MUST be spent on PE / Sport and Physical activity during the school day or before and after it.
At our school we believe in a holistic approach to the development of sport and physical activity for all and encourage collaboration and partnership working to make the best use of resources and enhance PE and sport provision in order to raise participation and achievement for all pupils. We are particularly thrilled to have been awarded the Gold Standard for Primary Games for the Second time this year, we are aiming for the Platinum Award (which can only be achieved if a school has already achieved the Gold at least 3 times)
Written confirmation of our award for our School. (Sept 2023)
''I’m delighted to verify the retention of a School Games Mark application at GOLD level for Payhembury Primary School. The school has continued to fully embrace The School Games philosophy and put PE, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) at the forefront of school life. The school’s dedicated and knowledgeable PE Coordinator drives the PESSPA offer and engages the wider school and other schools in the Ottery St Mary LLC through her role as The King’s School’s Key Stage 2/3 PE Liaison Lead Teacher, in appreciating the benefits of PESSPA beyond the School Games Programme and sport in general. Mrs Moran’s energy, commitment and experience has continued to ensure that Executive Headteacher and senior leadership support for The School Games is strong at Payhembury and across the Fort Federation. Despite a part-time role Mrs Moran manages to play a key advocate role and is a strong influence in the local learning community, gaining colleagues respect as an educator and subject leader through her understanding of the wider social, emotional and behavioural benefits that PE and sport brings for children. The school has fully engaged in the broad programme offered within both the East Devon and Honiton Learning Community provision. The school recognises the importance of ‘achievement for all’ and has continued to put the importance of ‘intent’ at the heart of planning and targeting who best to aim provision at. The continued strong link with their federated Partner school has seen the inclusive and broad intra and inter-school PAW CUP opportunities continue this year. Strong partnership work has taken place with Devon Cricket Board Community Coaches, ‘Sporty Stars’ and a strong school swimming programme facilitated through local community support and sports leader lifeguarding."
