Welcome to Willow Class!
We are delighted to welcome you to Willow Class, a special place where children begin their exciting school journey. Willow Class is a mixed-age class, combining Twiglets (our preschoolers) and Reception children, who learn and grow together in a warm, nurturing environment. Our dedicated team includes Mrs. Gill and Mrs. Gingell, who share teaching responsibilities throughout the week, while our preschool children are led by Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Campbell.
In Willow Class, every day is filled with exciting learning opportunities. Children engage in hands-on, practical activities within our beautiful indoor and outdoor areas, designed to inspire curiosity and exploration. Our children take part in daily Phonics, Maths, and Literacy sessions, alongside a wide variety of other curriculum experiences and play, ensuring a rich and well-rounded education.
Phonics and early reading is taught using the Bug Club program. This provides access to high-quality reading books and interactive games, tailored to the phonics your child is learning in school, helping to build confidence and foster a love of reading.
Willow Class is a wonderful community where learning is an adventure, and we are excited to be part of your child’s journey!
Things to Remember:
-
Wednesdays: Children should come to school wearing their PE kits for our dedicated PE session.
-
Thursdays: Mrs. Gingell leads Forest School in the Wild Area. On these days, children will need waterproof overalls to stay dry and comfortable while they explore and engage with nature.
-
Named Wellies & Spare Clothes: Please ensure your child has named wellies and a spare change of clothes in school at all times, as we love to take our learning outdoors as often as possible.
-
Label Everything: Please make sure that all uniform, shoes, wellies, coats, and any other belongings are clearly labeled with your child's name to avoid any mix-ups.
-
Book Bags: All Reception children are provided with a book bag and a reading journal. Please make time for daily reading with your child, and use the reading journal to share their successes and note anything they find tricky.
